In Memoriam

A middle-aged woman with shoulder-length brown hair and sunglasses stands next to an older man with grey hair and beard in front of a table displaying garden information.
Jerry Ludke mans the EACG table at the Taylor's Wish 5K in 2018.
As we welcome new gardeners, we also want to honor long-time gardener Jerry Ludke in plot K-1 who recently passed away on January 5th. Jerry was a Navy veteran and prodigious gardener here at the EACG since our inception in 2012. Until health issues prevented him from doing so, Jerry was always willing to pitch in at work parties, or man a booth at the Taylor Wish events at Sycamore Park. All we had to do was ask and Jerry was always willing to step up. Jerry was a perfect example of what we seek in a gardener here at the EACG, and will be sorely missed. His ashes are to be interred at Miramar National Cemetery on March 7th.

In honor of Kevin’s memory, James Rangel of OC Farm Supply kindly volunteered to rehabilitate Kevin’s plot and plant spring starters for a farewell grow. Please be sure to stop by plot A-5 in the upper garden to visit the Memorial Garden.
